Comparison of Babylonian Art vs. Egyptian Art Over the history of man, there have been many prosperous empires that ruled in different parts of the world. Babylon and Egypt are two of these empires that ruled almost 500 years apart, but had one thing in common, great artistic works. Wall paintings such as the Babylonian work Investiture of Zimrilim, and the Egyptian Queen Neferati Making an Offering to Isis are examples of the great works of their times. Both pieces are rich in meaning and background, share many similarities, but differences can be seen in their style due to the time periods. The wall paintings Investiture of Zimrilim and Queen Neferati Making an Offering to Isis have backgrounds that let viewers into a small view of their ancient times. The first, Investiture of Zimrilim comes from circa 1750 B.C.E. in the great Babylonian Empire of Mesopotamia. It was constructed on a mud plaster wall of the Palace of Zimrilim, who was a contemporary of the Babylonian Ruler, Hammurabi. The palace was located in the capital city of Mari, about 250 miles north of Babylon. This painting was one of the many extravagant wall paintings Zimrilim had to depict his dominance. It was made to show the empowerment of Zimrilim from the Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess of war, fertility, and love. I believe that a professional accountant is a fiduciary that is to act in the public interest instead of a businessperson pursuing profit. Accountants have schooled for many years and are licensed through the State. As a professional accountant there are many rules and regulations that must be understood and followed.Professional accountants are morally and ethically required to work in the best interest of the public. If an accountant is professional and ethical, he or she would not falsify financial statements or tax returns to allow for higher profits for the accountants employer, customer, or even themselves. Accountants must understand that proving to be an ethical, professional accountant with great morals will actually prove to be profitable.The accountant’s reputation plays a large role in the corporation’s reputation. 14. Why is it important f or a professional accountant to understand the ethical trends discussed in this chapter? It is important for a professional accountant to understand the ethic trends because we need to know the expectations of the public. After Enron and other banking issues caused some major changes in the new expectation in the business world.The ethics trends have slowly been changing but after what happened with set everything in place to set higher standards for the ethics. Teaching Philosophy When I think about my teaching philosophy, I think of a quote by Nikos Kazantzakis, Greek writer and philosopher. Kazantzakis states, â€Å"True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own.† In my classroom, I will provide an environment that shows I am a â€Å"true teacher.† Philosophy of Discipline I believe that children learn best and will have less discipline problems when the teacher provides a classroom where the children feel safe and comfortable, so I will take the time to develop and maintain a classroom where every child feels welcomed and secure. These will start on the first day of school by letting the children know it is our classroom and not just my classroom. I will start each class with a smile on my face and we agree as a team that when you walk through the door of the classroom we will leave our worries outside.
